Word on the street that Berke Breathed, creator of Bloom County, Outland, and Opus, is set to retire once again. This time, however, it looks like it might stick.This makes me sad.

Saw this yesterday on Yahoo, breaks my heart. Where else are we going to go to claim hold to the adventures of a sardonic, politically aware, probosci-challenged, bow-tie and briefs-wearin', flightless waterfowl with mother issues that loves the ladies? Bloom County was the hallmark of my adolescence, and was something that walked the ultra-fine line between sarcasm and comedy with ease, while still having a heart. It hadn't happened before, and I don't think it will happen again. But, if more work along the lines of "Red Ranger Came Calling" comes out of it as a result, the world will be a better place because of it.
I want a Pop Tart.
Between Bloom County and Calvin & Hobbes, my world was made complete.
